EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION & PRIMARY CARE

The future scope of a Certificate in Early Childhood Education & Primary Care (DECEPC) is as vast as the needs of children and the profession itself. Today's practitioners are required to wear several hats, from curriculum experts to problem-solvers. Their roles are changing as the world around them becomes more complex. They must be highly qualified and adaptable to meet these needs. Upon completion of a DECEPC program, graduates can find employment in the public or private sector in a variety of areas. They can work as elementary or primary school teachers, child development supervisors, kindergarten operations supervisors, home tutors, and educational trainees. Some students even pursue a professional education, including a postgraduate certificate in education.

In addition to private and public sectors, the field of early childhood education is growing. While there are many job opportunities in this field, they also pose some challenges. Many educators are juggling many responsibilities, which make it crucial to acquire a certificate in early childhood education. In addition to teaching standard subjects, an early childhood educator will also need to teach social studies and fine and large motor skills.

Course Description

Teaching Methods

This Programme of study is offered as a full time 13 Week system. Students are given Study Material at the beginning of the study Programme each semester. They can study the material at home. In addition to supplying Study Materials, Day School attendance is compulsory. Any study problems faced by students when going through the Study Materials could be discussed for further clarification at these Day School sessions.. Day Schools are conducted by internal or external staff. Compulsory attendance are very useful for students who need support in understanding the Study Material and also for coming in contact with fellow students. Field Practicum in Early Childhood / Primary Education will be conducted in selected Pre-Schools and Primary Schools.

Assessments

The Assessment consists of 03 components namely, i Continuous assessment in two stages of the completed study modules and Final Assessment on completion of practical. Continuous Assessment is conducted by means of Assignments. Practical Teaching in an assigned Primary School & Preschool is a compulsory part of the final assessment..
